About Our Services
District II maintains county roads and school bus
routes to ensure that roads are safe to travel. The main funding source comes from H.U.R.F (Highway Users
Revenue Fund) and SAFETEA-LU (Federal Funds) from the Federal Government.
Introducing Our Business
According to policy and procedures of the Arizona
Revised Statutes (ARS), the first Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) of 1982
between the Navajo Nation, Apache County and Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)
established county district offices for District I in Chinle, AZ, District II
in Ganado, AZ and District III in St. Johns, AZ. All three district offices maintain approximately 871.0 miles
of dirt school bus routes within the Navajo Nation.
The District II office maintains approximately
359 miles within the following chapters: Tsaile / Wheatfields, Sawmill, Fort Defiance,
Kinlichee, Cottonwood/Tselani, Steamboat, Lower Greasewood, Klagetoh, Wide
Ruins, Houck, Nazlini, Ganado and Cornfields.
The District II offices are located in Fort
Defiance and Ganado.
Community Involvement
Supervisor White and staff continue to support
and participate in local community activities with the Senior Citizens
Centers, Veteran organizations, and schools as well as temporary employment
for college interns.
